Chemical Property/Description

Bright yellow powder, soluble in ethanol and alkali, slightly soluble in water; The sodium salt is orange-red crystal, soluble in water, yellow with green fluorescence, insoluble in anhydrous ethanol and ether. Melting point greater than 300ºC.

Fluorexon is a calcium-dependent fluorescent molecule. It is mainly necessary to study bone metabolism under in vivo conditions and to help stain the pitted areas under in vitro conditions. Fluorexon is used for fluorescence determination of calcium and EDTA(tetraacetic acid) calcium titration. Cytotoxicity is low, so calcein is often used as a fluorescent probe to stain living cells.

Main Uses:

Complexation indicator; Fluorescent indicator; Mainly used for complexometric titration of calcium, but also for the determination of strontium, barium, copper, manganese, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, chromium and so on.

Chemical-mechanical polishing, stabilizing liposomes, cell motility assay, detecting nucleic acids, virus, screening safety of gastric mucosa, MDR inhibitors, delivery, imaging atherosclerotic plaque.
