Properties:
Polyvinyl alcohol is a solid that can be white in powder, flake or flocculent form. Glass conversion temperature 60 ~ 85ºC. Polyvinyl alcohol contains many alcohol groups, has polarity, and can form hydrogen bonds with water, so it can dissolve in polar water. Polyvinyl alcohol can also dissolve in hot hydroxy solvents such as glycerol, etc., insoluble in benzene, and other general organic solvents.
Uses:
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a widely used water-soluble polymer, PVA can quickly dissolve in water, forming a stable colloid, performance between plastic and rubber, in addition to fiber raw materials, but also widely used in the production of coatings, adhesives, paper processing agents, emulsifiers, dispersants, films and other products. The application scope covers textile, food, medicine, construction, wood processing, paper making, printing, agriculture, steel, polymer chemical and other industries.
PVA polymer powder is especially suitable to be used as building mortar additive, which can improve the flexibility, water retention and cohesiveness of cement mortar when combined with methyl cellulose ether. In addition, it can also reduce the friction of the mortar, thereby enhancing the work efficiency and quality.
Soluble:It has good solubility in water and forms a colloidal solution. Cold water solubility is poor at low temperatures, but it can be miscible with other solvents such as ethanol and ether.
Membranability: polyvinyl alcohol can be prepared into a film or fiber, with good flexibility and ductility.
Chemical resistance: polyvinyl alcohol has good resistance to acid, alkali and other chemicals, and high stability.
Hygroscopicity: The molecule contains hydroxyl (OH) functional group and has certain hygroscopicity. Polyvinyl alcohol has many uses, including: Industrial: for the preparation of fibers, films, coatings and adhesives.
