The main uses of 1-naphthylacetic acid
1. Promote root development and propagation survival
Used for cutting treatment of plants such as grapes, tea, mulberry, and water fir. By soaking the branches or roots (concentration 100-200mg/L), it stimulates the formation of adventitious roots, significantly improving the rooting rate and transplant survival rate.
2. Expanded fruits and tubers
Applied to crops such as sweet potato, radish, watermelon, etc.:
Soaking or spraying (concentration 10-30mg/L) can promote the enlargement of potato chunks and fruits, and increase yield;
In cotton, tomato, cucumber and other vegetables, regulate the speed of fruit development and improve uniformity.
3. Protecting flowers and fruits and improving fruit setting rate
Fruit trees: pre harvest spraying of citrus, apple, pear, etc. (concentration 15-60mg/L) to prevent fruit drop and increase yield;
Vegetables: Spraying during the flowering period of chili peppers (concentration 20mg/L) can reduce flower drop and promote pepper formation;
Cotton: Continuous spraying (concentration 1-8mg/L) after the peak flowering period to inhibit the shedding of buds and bells.
4. Regulating plant growth and development
Low concentration (10-30mg/L) soaking or foliar spraying can promote the growth of crops such as rice and corn, enhance germination potential and seed vitality;
High concentration can inhibit excessive growth and achieve dwarfing or ripening effects.
5. Industrial and pharmaceutical fields
As an organic synthesis intermediate, it is used for the preparation of drugs or plant growth regulators.
