Chemical Property/Description

Dark green powder, an equal mixture of methylene blue and azure I; Soluble in water is dark blue, slightly soluble in ethanol, slightly , insoluble in ether, Soluble  in  water  (40  mg/ml),  and  ethanol  (20  mg/ml).



Main Uses:

Biological staining; Hemocyte staining.


Azure II is used in combination with methylene blue and basic fuchsin for dyeing semi-thin slices. The complex is used to stain nuclei, goblet cells, striated muscle, endothelial cells, smooth muscle, cytoplasm, lipid droplets, red blood cells, glycogen, collagen, cartilage, mucous particles, elastin, and white blood cells.
