It is red powder, yellow-red in water and orange in alcohol.
 

Main Uses:

 

Used widely in cotton; The dyeing of viscose, because it is easy to turn blue in the face of acid, and there is no appropriate treatment method to improve its wet treatment fastness, so since the advent of insoluble azo dyes and direct acid-resistant red 4BS, the use of this product in dyeing has been decreasing, but the amount is quite large in the paper industry.

It can also be used as an acid-base indicator, that is, Congo red test paper, pH3.5 (blue purple) -5.2 (red). In addition, it is also used for biological staining and analytical reagents.

Used as an adsorption indicator for the determination of halides, thiocyanates and zinc. It is used as a color developing agent for determination of thiophosphate herbicide by thin layer chromatography.
