Hexamethyl-diisocyanate has the following main properties: 1. Physical properties: Hexamethyl-diisocyanate is a colorless liquid and has a pungent odor. It has a low vapor pressure at room temperature. 2. Reactivity: hexamethyl-diisocyanate reacts with alcohols, amines and other compounds containing active hydrogen atoms to produce polyurethane. This reaction is called isocyanate-amine reaction and is one of the important methods for preparing polyurethanes. 3. Solubility: hexamethyl-diisocyanate is soluble in organic solvents such as ethers, ketones and aromatic hydrocarbons. It has a low solubility in water. 4. Application: hexamethyl-diisocyanate is mainly used as the main raw material for preparing polyurethane and other coatings and adhesives.
