2-chlorothiene-5-formic acid is a pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be used to prepare the intermediate 5-chlorothiene-2-formyl chloride of rivaroxaban. Rivaroxaban, also known as Rivaroxaban in English, is a new oral anticoagulant drug with long-term efficacy for the prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis through oral absorption, with a wide therapeutic range and without routine coagulation function monitoring. The world's first direct Factor Xa inhibitor developed for Bayer was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011.
