Chemical Property/Description:

 

The appearance is brownish black powder, it is brown-yellow solution after soluble in water, slightly soluble in water, the aqueous solution is reddish-brown, the maximum absorption wavelength is 458nm, and it is irritating.
 

Main Uses:

 

Mordant Blue 29 is a triphenylmethane acid dye, which can form colored complexes with aluminum, beryllium, copper, iron, zirconium and vanadium plasma, so it can be used as a color developing agent for the colorimetric determination of these ions.

Mordant Blue 29 and aluminum form 1∶1, 1∶2 and 1∶3 complexes under high acidity, among which 1∶2 complex is the most stable. Since the absorbance of the product itself and its complex with aluminum has a great relationship with the pH value of the solution, the control of the pH value is very important in the determination.

Generally, pH5 ~ 5.5 and absorption wavelength of 550nm are used as the colorimetric determination conditions for aluminum. In addition, it can generally be used as a metal indicator in complexometric titration of aluminum, titanium and zirconium.
