Chemical Property/Description
 It is an amide compound, which is a unique amino acid of tea and accounts for 1%-2% by weight in dry tea.White crystalline powder, odorless, sweet and sour taste.

Main Uses:
Used as a food additive, L-theanine has a high sweet umami taste and is the most important umami component in tea. Theanine not only forms the refreshing taste of tea soup, but also reduces the bitter taste of tea. L-Theanine also has a caramel flavor, which also has a good effect on the aroma of black tea.

L-Theanine is a derivative of glutamine with similar structure, and the metabolism of glutamine in tumor cells is much more active than that in normal cells. Therefore, as a competitor of glutamine, L-Theanine can inhibit the growth of tumor cells by interfering with the metabolism of glutamine.

It was found that L-Theanine could prolong the swimming time of mice, reduce the consumption of liver glycogen and decrease the serum urea nitrogen level during exercise. It can inhibit the increase of blood lactic acid after exercise and promote the elimination of blood lactic acid after exercise.

L-Theanine can obviously promote the release of dopamine in the brain center and improve the physiological activity of dopamine in the brain.
