Sudan Red B is a synthetic organic dye known chemically as Solman Red G. It is a type of azo dye with an orange-red crystalline powder substance. Sudan Red B is almost insoluble in water, but is more soluble in organic solvents. It has good light and boil resistance and can be used to dye textiles, paper, leather and plastics. The preparation method of Sudan Red B is relatively simple, a common method is through dinitronaphthalene and 2-aminobenzaldehyde reaction, through reduction, recrystallization and other process steps to get the pure product. Although Sudan Red B is widely used in the dyeing industry, it has certain toxicity and carcinogenicity. High intake of Sudan Red B may cause damage to the human body, such as toxic effects on the liver and kidneys.
Solvent Red 25, also known as Sudan Red B, is an azo dye. It can be used in direct dyes, acid dyes, reactive dyes, metal complex dyes, disperse dyes, cationic dyes and polycondensation dyes and other synthetic dyes, for a variety of natural and synthetic fibers dyeing and printing, as well as fur, plastic, rubber, ceramic products, grease coloring.
