2,6-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid was released from the autoclaved killing of thermobacterium stearophilus spores. It induces the accumulation of chitosan-stabilized gold nanoparticles, causing the color of the solution to change from red to blue.
Used as a competitive inhibitor of bovine liver glutamate dehydrogenase.
