Chemical Property/Description:

 

1. Color: Pyrocatechol Violet is a deep green to brown crystalline solid.
2. Solubility: Pyrocatechol Violet is soluble in alcohol, ether,  other organic solvents, but insoluble in water.
3. Stability: Pyrocatechol Violet is stable under light, but it will fade under weak alkaline and strong acidic conditions.

Pyrocatechol Violet has a metallic luster. Soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol, insoluble in non-polar solvents (such as ether, benzene, xylene). Its aqueous solution is yellow, and when the acidity increases, it turns from yellow to red, the solution above pH6 becomes purple, and the solution above pH9 becomes reddish-purple.
 

Main Uses:

 

1. Dye: Pyrocatechol Violet can be used to dye textiles, leather, paper, wood and other materials, giving it a deep purple.

2. Pigment: Pyrocatechol Violet is often used as a painting pigment for artists.

3. Indicator: Pyrocatechol Violet can also be used as an acid-base indicator to detect pH in chemical experiments.
