Chemical Property/Description:

 

Reddish brown powder, blue in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. The dye is yellowish-green in concentrated sulfuric acid and turns blue when diluted. The aqueous solution  is purple and dark purple precipitates are formed.



 

Main Uses:

 

Used for dyeing hemp, silk fabrics, paper and coloring bamboo and wood. It can also be used for the manufacture of ink and color lake and the dyeing of biological and bacterial tissues. It can be mixed with basic violac5bn and yellow dextrin in a ratio of 78:13:9 to form basic magenta blue.
