Chemical Property/Description
The chemical properties are unstable at room temperature, and it is easy to deliquate in the air and cool down due to large amount of heat absorption. The chemical properties are stable at -29.5 ~ 6.8ºC, and hemihydrate crystals can be obtained at low temperature. It turns blue when it is hot to about 430 ° C, and becomes colorless again after cooling.

Main Uses:
In the chemical industry, potassium thiocyanate is used in the synthesis of resins, insecticides, fungicides, mustard oils, thioureas and drugs, and can be used as a chemical agent, such as a common indicator of trivalent iron ions, which can react with iron ions to form blood-red flocculent complexes.
Potassium thiocyanate is commonly used as deplating agent and refrigerant in electroplating industry.

In the field of metal surface rust prevention, potassium thiocyanate can form a stable ferrocyanide double salt layer, so as to effectively delay the corrosion rate of metal materials, especially suitable for metal materials in acidic environments, such as steel parts in automotive engine lubrication systems.
Potassium thiocyanate can also be used to prepare thiocyanate solutions for the determination of trivalent iron ions, copper and silver, for urine testing, as a chromogenic agent for tungsten and an indicator for volumetric titanium, and as a refrigerant and photographic thickening agent.
