Chemical Property/Description:

 

Dark purple to purplish black powder,Dissolved in water, the solution is blue. Not deeper than ethanol and other organic solvents. It is yellow in acidic solution, light blue at pH 6.5 ~ 8.8, gray at pH 10.5 ~ 11.6, dark blue at pH >17, and forms purple or blue water-soluble complexes with Al3+, Ca2+, Cu2+, TaO, Zr4+, etc. Solubility in water :460g/L(20ºC).




 

Main Uses:

 

Methylthymol Blue sodium salt has a wide range of applications in cosmetics, food and medicine. It is commonly used as a food additive to enhance the aroma and taste of food, especially in condiments and beverages.

In addition, in drugs, Methylthymol Blue sodium salt can be used as a stabilizer for antibiotics to extend their expiration date. The main methods of preparation of methyl thymol blue are chemical synthesis and microbial fermentation.
