Main Uses:

Properties:

1.3K2S2O3·5H2O=661.07, colorless rhombic crystal. When heated, it decomposes into potassium sulfide and potassium sulfate without melting. Soluble in water, the aqueous solution is weakly alkaline. In case of acid, it will decompose and release sulfur dioxide.

2.K2S2O3·1/2H2O=196.34, colorless monoclinic deliquescence crystal. The relative density is 2.590(anhydrous matter is 2.23), the crystal water is lost at 200ºC, and the decomposition is continued to be heated. Soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. It is reductive. It is prepared by boiling potassium sulfite with sulfur.

Use:

It is used as an analytical reagent and a reducing agent and is also used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Potassium thiosulfate is an inorganic salt compound, which can be used to prepare other thiosulfate complexes or as fertilizer to provide potassium and sulfur. It can also be used in reducing agents and chemical analysis reagents. On the other hand, it can also be used as a photographic fixing agent, metal cleaning agent, silver plating solution, dechlorination agent after bleaching cotton fabrics and printing and dyeing AIDS.

Potassium thiosulfate can be used in leather tanning, paper and textile manufacturing, flue gas desulfurization, cement additives, dechlorination, ozone and hydrogen peroxide quench cooling, paint stabilizers, as agricultural fertilizers, as leaching agents in mining, etc.
