Odorless or slightly odorous white crystal, triclinic. Because there is an asymmetric carbon atom in the molecule, it has optical activity. It exists in three forms, D-malic acid, L-malic acid, and its mixture DL-malic acid.
The role and efficacy of DL-malic acid are mainly manifested in the following aspects: 1. Promote digestion: DL-malic acid has a certain stimulating effect on the gastrointestinal tract, and moderate drinking can promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and help digest food. Especially in the appropriate amount of drinking after meals, help to moisten the bowel, prevent constipation. 2. Supplement body nutrition: DL-malic acid is rich in cellulose, minerals and sugars and other nutrients, appropriate drinking helps to meet the body's needs of nutrition, for the body to provide energy.
DL-malic acid can form chelates with metal ions and can be used to remove metal corrosion products (rust). Can be used alone or in combination with other organic acids as a metal cleaning agent.
