Cesium hydroxide monohydrate. It is a solid substance, usually colorless crystal or white powder. Cesium hydroxide monohydrate is highly basic and can react with acid to form the corresponding salt and water. It is very hygroscopic in the air and can absorb carbon dioxide and change into cesium carbonate. In the laboratory and in industry, cesium hydroxide monohydrate can be used as a catalyst for a number of chemical reactions. It can also be used to prepare other cesium compounds, such as cesium salts. Cesium hydroxide monohydrate can be prepared by reacting cesium hydroxide (CsOH) with an appropriate amount of water. This can be obtained by dissolving a mixture of cesium carbonate (Cs2CO3) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and then evaporating the solution.
