The pure product is a white blade-like solid with luster. Slowly volatilize at 90 ~ 100ºC. Almost insoluble in water (at 20ºC, only 0.00029g is dissolved in 100mL of water), soluble in ethanol, easily soluble in ether, benzene,carbon disulfide, pentyrotyl acetate. Risk of burning in high heat, open flame or contact with oxidants.

Stearic acid, statutory number INS (internationalnumbersystem) 570, EECNo. 570, CAS [57-11-4], for solid white or yellowish white, soluble in alcohol, Soluble in ether, benzene, carbon disulfide, amyl acetate, melting point 69.6ºC, is one of the main components of oil.

 

Use:

Used as a vulcanizing active agent for natural rubber, synthetic rubber (except butyl rubber) and latex, and also as a raw material for plastic plasticizers and stabilizers. In medicine, it is used to prepare ointments, suppositories, etc., and is also used to manufacture cosmetics, candles, waterproofing agents, polishes and so on. The product is used in the food industry as a lubricant, defoamer and food additives stearate glycerin, stearate sorbitan anhydride ester, sucrose ester and other raw materials.
 

It can be used as a standard for gas phase analysis, and is also used in the preparation of soaps, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other organic chemicals.

It is widely used in oral and topical medicines. Mainly used as a lubricant for tablets and capsules. It can also be used as a binder and combined with shellac for tablet coating. It can also be used as a carrier for sustained-release preparations. Stearic acid is used as emulsifier and solubilizer in topical preparations. Add to a glycerin suppository as a hardener.
