1,2-Benzoisothiazol-3-one (BIT) is a simple derivative of isothiazolinone. Due to its good thermal stability (thermal decomposition temperature above 300 ºC), it is beneficial for corrosion prevention. Moreover, due to its advantages of high efficiency, low toxicity, and easy degradation, it has attracted widespread attention from experts in the fields of biology, medicine, and chemistry. BIT is a major industrial fungicide, preservative, and enzyme inhibitor that has outstanding inhibitory effects on the growth of microorganisms such as mold and algae in organic media. It can solve a series of problems caused by microbial growth, such as mold growth, fermentation, deterioration, emulsion breaking, and odor generation in organic products. It is widely used in sterilization, marine pollution prevention, and other fields. Developed countries widely use BIT in latex products, water-soluble resins, coatings (latex paints), acrylic acid, and polymers. In products such as polyurethane products, photographic detergents, papermaking, ink, leather, lubricants, etc. However, the environmental behavior and ecological toxicity of isothiazolinone compounds have attracted great attention. At present, the main methods for treating organic chemical wastewater in China include adsorption, liquid membrane extraction, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, gas extraction, and ultrafiltration. Due to the fact that adsorption method does not introduce new pollutants, has low energy consumption, and can separate and enrich organic matter from wastewater, achieving waste resource utilization, it is considered the best feasible technology for adsorbing toxic and harmful organic matter from water. In recent years, composite functional resins containing functional groups synthesized through chemical modification have been applied in the control of organic toxins.
