Magnesium malate is a white powder. Magnesium hydroxy acid is the best source of magnesium in the human body, and malic acid is also added in addition to magnesium.
1 Muscle function Magnesium malate helps muscles function better, helping them contract and relax. It even helps build muscle. Studies have confirmed this benefit of magnesium, such as a 2006 study demonstrating that magnesium can improve muscle performance, grip strength, calf muscle strength, knee extension torque, and ankle joint extension strength in older adults.
2 Neural function Magnesium malate has been found to help transmit information from the brain to other parts of the body. This means it can help treat many neurological conditions, such as, according to a 2018 study,"migraines, chronic pain, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and stroke, as well as common comorbiditions of anxiety and depression."
3. Bone development Magnesium is a major contributor to bone stability, growth, and mineralization, which can protect against diseases such as osteoporosis. As a 2013 study noted, controlling and maintaining so-called "magnesium homeostasis" can "preserve bone integrity."
