L-calcium lactate is a natural active ion calcium, is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a food use of a calcium preparation, chemical formula is C6H10CaO6·5H2O, because of its high calcium content, solubility, high absorption rate, high safety, reasonable price and other advantages and attention.

L-calcium lactate is an important organic acid salt, which can be used as nutrient supplement, buffer, dough conditioner, curing agent and so on. There is an asymmetric carbon atom in the lactic acid molecule, so there are optical isomers, and its salts have optical isomers correspondingly, L-calcium lactate is left, D-calcium lactate is right.
