(s) -3-hydroxy-gamma-butyrolactone is a colorless liquid, soluble in water, alcohols and other organic solvents, and insoluble in petroleum ether, etc. It is an important organic synthetic intermediate, and an important Chiral Pool. It is mainly used as a key intermediate of the regulator (R) -γ-hydroxy-β-q hydroxybutyric acid [(R)-GABOB], which is used to treat hyperlipidemia; (s)-Oxiracetam is a promoter of brain metabolism and is also synthesized; (s) -3-hydroxy-tetrahydrofuran can be obtained by reducing it, which is an important intermediate of AIDS drugs.
