Chemical Property/Description
Light yellow to brownish yellow powder; Soluble in solution, soluble in ethanol and benzene, slightly soluble in water (about 0.4g/100ml), maximum absorption wavelength 422nm. It is a pH indicator, in the pH 3.0~4.6 range, the color changes from yellow to blue.It should be stored in a cool and ventilated place, away from fire and heat sources, used as an acid-base indicator, pH discoloration range 3.0 (yellow) ~ 4.6 (purple), to avoid contact with strong oxides.
Main Uses:
1. Used as acid-base indicator, pH discoloration range 3.0 (yellow) ~ 4.6 (purple). It can also be used as an adsorption indicator.
2. It is also used as a reagent for the determination of aliphatic carboxylic acids, sugar alcohols and chlorine-containing pesticides by thin layer chromatography, and as an extraction separating agent for quaternary ammonium cation by spectrophotometry.
3.
115-39-9 is widely used in laboratory and industrial production.
