A dextrohexane aldose obtained by the hydrolysis of lactose, formula C6H12O6. Appearance is white crystal or crystalline powder, no special odor, solubility in water: 680 g/L (25°C); Slightly soluble in glycerol and alcohol. D-galactose is a component of AGAR, plant gum, viscose, raffinose, lactose, meliose and other sugars. It exists in snail protein glands, frog eggs, brain nerve tissues and other animal materials in the form of galactoside and galactose anhydride molecules. Freedom is found in milk. It combines with glucose to form lactose. Mucic acid can be obtained after oxidation.

Preparation method:
