Cobamamide is a dark red powder,it is one of the two active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12 in the body and is essential for cell growth and reproduction and for maintaining the integrity of the myelin sheath of the nervous system. Absorption is rapid and complete after intramuscular injection, plasma concentration peaks 1 hour later, is stored in the liver, is excreted mainly from the kidney, and most is excreted in the first 8 hours.
