Chemical Property/Description

Brown-green crystalline powder with odor; Soluble in ethanol is yellow, soluble in dilute lye is blue, insoluble in water; The maximum absorption wavelength is 594(376)nm.



Main Uses:
pH1.2(red) ~ 2.8(yellow), 8.0(yellow) ~ 9.6(blue).Anionic surfactant indicator, under acidic conditions,
when the anionic surfactant turns reddish purple.

Thymol Blue,  ethanol, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride can be used to make a bicarbonate indicator to identify the presence of carbon dioxide.
