Chemical Property/Description:

 

An industrial oil-soluble azo dye, also known in industrial applications as solvent yellow 14 or oil-soluble Yellow R.

Because Sudan I is a synthetic industrial dye, in 1995 the European Union (EU) and other countries have banned it as a pigment in food to be added, which is also explicitly prohibited in China. However, because of its bright dyeing, some countries such as India also allow the addition of Sudan 1 in the process of processing chili powder.

 

Main Uses:

 

1. Sudan I is used for the coloring of shoe oil, floor wax, grease, etc., and is also used in the manufacture of fireworks and transparent paint. Bright color, poor fastness to sunlight. It is used for the coloring of various oils and organic glass, and is used as biological dyeing agent and petroleum coloring agent.

2. Solvent pigments. Mainly used Sudan I for the coloring of petroleum products, but also used for ink, oil paints and cosmetics coloring.
