Chemical Property/Description

Foliaceous crystals. Melting point 18 ~ 187ºC(decomposition). Soluble in hot ethanol, insoluble in hot water, hot benzene and ether.
 

The mixture of 2g o-aminobenzoic acid,  2g potassium carbonate, 0.1g lead powder and 12mg  was heated for 3h. The nitro group and the unreacted were removed by steam, then filtered after cooling, and the filtrate was acidic with to obtain the crude N-phenyl-anthranilic acid. The crude product is recrystallized by benzene and is 3g finished product.


Main Uses:
N-phenylanthranilic acid is a sensitive internal oxidation-reduction indicator. Especially suitable for determination of vanadium in steel analysis. Also known as vanadium reagent, it is an important intermediate for the synthesis compounds, widely used in antimalarial drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-tumor drugs and so on.

1.Used as a reagent for the test of vanadium in steel, determination.

2.Used as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
3.Used as analytical reagent and REDOX indicator.
